HVAC Technician Apprenticeship

Program outline: Apprentices will learn on the job over the course of 2,000-2,250 hours in a specially designed in-house training program within The Jackson Laboratory’s Facilities and Maintenance department. Minimum qualifications for acceptance – Applicants must:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent
- Be able to bend, squat, crouch, crawl, kneel, stoop, stretch, and stand or work in cramped areas for prolonged periods of time while repairing equipment at floor level, overhead, and/or in confined space areas
- Be able to climb stairs and ladders (both inclined and vertical) and enter man-holes, vaults, and other classified and unclassified confined spaces
- Be able to, with or without assistance, exert 50-100 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or 25-50 lbs. of force frequently, and/or 10-25 lbs. of force constantly to move objects and job-related materials or equipment

Automotive Technician I Apprenticeship

Apprentices will receive supplemental classroom training through the General Motors Center of Learning online training program. Minimum qualifications for acceptance – Applicants must:
- Be at least 17 years of age
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent
- Be able to, with or without assistance, lift a vehicle onto a lift safely
- Be able to lift and carry heavy tools and equipment, lift and maneuver heavy parts, bend, crouch, kneel, and work on feet for extended periods of time while working on projects above or below, and frequently lift and/or move objects up to 25 lbs. and occasionally lift objects up to 100 lbs.

Medical Assistant Apprenticeship
Program outline: Apprentices will learn on the job over the course of 9 months, part-time, program offered by Maine Medical Center, Maine Medical Partners, Southern Maine Health Care, MidCoast Parkview, or PenBay Medical Center in partnership with Southern Maine Community College or York County Community College. Minimum qualifications for acceptance – Applicants must:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Possess a high school diploma, GED, or HiSET from a U.S.-accredited institution (if your high school diploma is from a non-U.S. institution, you may be required to submit English language proficiency scores)
- Be authorized to work in the U.S.
- Be a Maine resident
- Complete an application for admission to Southern Maine Community College or York County Community College (depending on cohort start and preferred location)

Computer Technician Apprenticeship

CDL-B Driver (Hazardous Materials) Apprenticeship
EDUCATE MAINE SPONSORED!
Program outline: Apprentices will learn on the job over the course of 2,000 hours in a specially designed in-house training program at Consumers Fuel Company. Apprentices will receive supplemental classroom training at Northeast Technical Institute and the MEMA Technical Education Center (MTEC). Apprentices will be able to sit for their Maine CDL-B license, HazMat certification test, and Propane Delivery License. - Possess a valid Class C Maine Driver’s License and have a clean driving record

- Have already passed, or be able to pass, a TSA Fingerprinting Threat Assessment
- Be able to pass a DOT physical and drug screen for all controlled substances
- Be able to pass a basic school ready exam (for driving school)

Aerospace Sheet Metal Fabricator Apprenticeship

Minimum qualifications for acceptance – Applicants must:
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Be able to stand continuously, lift objects up to 40 lbs., withstand repetitive motion (particularly with shoulders), and work in a loud/noisy environment.
- Applicants must also take an Entrance exam that tests reasoning ability and general knowledge of numbers, dimensions, and geometry.

Building Construction Craft Laborer Apprenticeship
Program outline: Apprentices will learn on the job over the course of 2,000 hours in a specially designed in-house training program at Harbor Builders Associates. Apprentices will receive supplemental related instruction through the Penn Foster Construction Trades Online School and MT Copeland. Apprentices will also earn their OSHA 10 Safety Certificate. Minimum qualifications for acceptance – Applicants must:
- Be at least 17 years of age
- Be able bodied and capable of climbing ladders, staging, and standing for 8 hours a day

- Be willing, if hired, to wear appropriate PPE, including eye and ear protection as well as appropriate footwear and clothing

Shop Cabinet Maker Apprenticeship
Program outline: Over the course of 6,000 hours in a specially designed training program, apprentices will learn, starting from the foundations of cabinetry, high-end casework, millwork, window and door production, and installation, while being a contributing member of the shop team. In addition, proper tool and material identification, application, and maintenance, shop safety
policies and procedures, and company systems will be covered.
Apprentices will receive supplemental training instruction at Hay Runner and through local education providers including the Center For Furniture Craftmanship. Apprentices will also earn their OSHA 10 Safety Certificate.
Minimum qualifications for acceptance – Applicants must:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Have reliable transportation to/from work
- Be capable of climbing ladders, staging, etc., stand for 8+ hours, lift 50 lbs unassisted, and
maintain a full work day of active movement - Be willing to wear appropriate PPE, footwear, and clothing in line with Hay Runners handbook
- Be highly motivated, willing to fully engage and have a passion and vision for a future in
cabinet making - Successful candidates do not need prior related experience. Though apprentices with prior
related experience may be awarded credit towards their apprenticeship program.

Oil Heat and Propane Technician Apprenticeship
Program outline: Apprentices will learn on the job over the course of 2,000 hours in a specially designed in-house training program at Consumers Fuel Company. Apprentices will receive safety training through Consumers Fuel Company and supplemental training through local education providers including MEMA Technical Education Center (MTEC). Apprentices will work under an apprentice oil burner technician temporary license until they are able to receive their Journeyman Oil Burner Technician License. Minimum qualifications for acceptance – Applicants must:
- Be at least 21 years of age
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Must have a valid Class C Maine Driver’s License, or be able to obtain one within 1 week of hire
- Must have finger, hand, and arm dexterity; must be able to stand, climb stairs/ladders, kneel, crouch, bend, stretch, twist, or reach with your body, arms, and/or legs
- Successful candidates do not need prior related experience. Though apprentices with prior
related experience may be awarded credit towards their apprenticeship program.

Shop Cabinet Maker Apprenticeship
Program outline: Apprentices will complete 6,000 hours of on-the-job training in a specialized program at Block Brothers Custom Cabinets. Over the course of this 3-year program, participants will receive hands-on training from mentors and experts at Block Brothers, along with supplemental education through an online drafting course and workshops at the Center for Furniture Craftsmanship. Apprentices can choose from a variety of workshop options, including “Basic Woodworking” to “Advanced Joinery” and “Fun and Games with Veneer.”Additionally, apprentices will undergo safety training both at Block Brothers and through OSHA. Passive House Builder Apprenticeship
Program outline:
Apprentices at Juniper Design + Build will complete a 4,000-hour apprenticeship in residential carpentry with a focus on Passive House building. The program includes hands-on training in areas such as comprehensive safety, site preparation, framing, exterior and interior finish carpentry, air sealing, and ERV/HRV installation.
In addition to on-the-job training, apprentices will complete 295 hours of related technical instruction through various industry providers. This includes safety and organizational training, Passive House Tradesperson certification, and courses from Penn Foster or NCCER covering topics like construction math, framing systems, and interior finishes. Apprentices will receive safety training as well, with OSHA-10 certification and regular safety meetings incorporated into the program.

- Sign a pre-apprentice interest form and pre-apprentice agreement
- Complete registration forms for Southern Maine Community College (SMCC’s online platform hosts the online pre-apprenticeship)
