EMPLOYER RESOURCES

If you are an employer with at least one intern, apprentice, or co-op student working in a Maine office/facility then Maine Career Catalyst is for you! Our program will complement and enhance your existing experiential learning program.

Maine Career Catalyst provides professional development, social opportunities and networking for students working in Maine. These events facilitate connections among learners and a deeper understanding of Maine’s opportunities for launching a career. We are working to expand our offerings to year round experiences but currently focus the majority of our programming to the summer when many college students take on experiential learning opportunities.

Our Goal

Improve the perception of Maine as a vibrant place to live and work and increase the attraction of skilled workers to Maine.

Become a partner

Employers who participate in the program are expected to adhere to best practices for student management following State and NACE guidelines.

See our Internship Partner Partnership Guidelines here.

See our Apprenticeship Partner Partnership Guidelines here.

View our Apprenticeship Flyer to discover the core components of Registered Apprenticeship programs.

There is no cost to become a partner. Sponsorship opportunities are available and provide additional brand awareness and visibility to partners who participate. Contact Kate Howell for more information on available opportunities to partner or sponsor.

What other resources are available to learn more about improving experiences for experiential learners?

There are many online resources that can help employers with best practices to structure the onboarding and management of intern and experiential learning programs. The National Association for Colleges and Employers (NACE) is a great resource and the best practices for internships page can be especially helpful.

To learn more about registered apprenticeship as a career pathway and workforce development strategy, visit ApprenticeshipUSA. This website describes what Registered Apprenticeship Programs (RAPs) are and how they work. It also lists the industries and occupations that utilize RAPs, as well as the benefits and incentives that RAPs provide for employers.

There are many resources available in Maine to reduce the cost of developing an apprenticeship and to offset the cost of any included training. Please contact us to discuss what resources may be applicable to your effort, but a great place to start is by joining the Maine Community College Workforce Development Compact.

Kate Howell, Director of Workforce Partnerships, is also available to provide tools, support, and mentorship to businesses looking to start or build a program. Kate is a SHRM Certified Senior Professional who has a background in Human Resources. She joined the Maine Career Catalyst team from one of our industry partners where she grew a successful national University Relations and Recruiting program.
